​This method involves examining the
  • Activity/setting in which the behavior occurs
  • What occurs right before the behavior (antecedent)
  • The behavior itself and what it looks like (operational definition)
  • What happens after the behavior (consequence)

To help you identify patterns and the function of the behavior (or the purpose that it serves).

Duration Recording
A duration recording provides information
​about how long a behavior lasts

ABC Recording

This method involves examining the settings in which the behavior occurs, what occurs right before the behavior (antecedent), the behavior itself, and what happens after the behavior (consequence) in order to identify patterns and the function of the behavior (or the purpose that it serves).
