Behavior is communication! An ABC Observation provides information about events that are happening in the environment and helps explain the purpose of the behavior.


​This method involves examining the
  • Activity/setting in which the behavior occurs
  • What occurs right before the behavior (antecedent)
  • The behavior itself and what it looks like (operational definition)
  • What happens after the behavior (consequence)

To help you identify patterns and the function of the behavior (or the purpose that it serves).
